As college is now back in session and we are growing, slowly but surely, in number, I encourage everyone to take a chance to review the Dagorhir Manual of Arms. It can be found here: www.dagorhir.com/dagorhir/Rules.htm
This is just to help ensure that as a group we are all on the same page.
On this note as a new group everyone has crazy ideas to make unique weapons and such. I would just like to remind everyone that there are loopholes and unclear sections in the rules. However if an idea falls into one of these loopholes and seems a bit iffy, it's probably not kosher. Also there are in fact a few unique items that are perfectly legal by dag terms if done right. A scythe for example.
*I would like to stop here to note that most of following is not first-hand experience. It is in fact information obtained by talking with other members of the Dag community through my experience in Dag. Most of this information is specifically from Zaron.
However on the Dag field these items serve no practical purpose. Many unique weapons were generally designed in history with a specific purpose in mind. The big thing to remember is that even though Dag tries to mimic combat as best as possible, many unique abilities certain weapons had in history, become eliminated when the weapons are applied to Dag.
In the end not only do unique and weird weapon designs have no benefit, they are usually slightly awkward to use, and in some cases extremely hard to make.
But again please just take 5min to read or reread the Official Dag rules, it will help practices run smoother and allow us to have more fun:)
